Days after the Bihar Police filed a case against Bollywood actor Rhea Chakraborty on the complaint of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s father KK Singh, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also swung into action, seeking details of the case from the state police.
A top ED source said that the agency has sought the copy of the FIR to understand the bank transactions to the tune of Rs 25 crore of the late Bollywood actor, who committed suicide on 14 June.
The source further said that after reviewing the FIR filed by Bihar Police, the ED will take a decision on filing a money laundering case.
The source also said that the ED has sought the details of two companies owned by Sushant Singh Rajput and Rhea’s family from the banks. The ED has also sought details of the financial transactions of the Vividrage Rhealityx, in which she is a director, and Front India For World, in which her brother Showik is a director, the source added.
Sushant’s father lodged an FIR against Rhea in Patna, accusing her of cheating and threatening his son.
On Thursday, he filed a caveat in the Supreme Court on the plea of Rhea seeking transfer of investigation in the case from Patna to Mumbai.
The case was registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including 341 (wrongful restraint), 342 (wrongful confinement), 380 (theft in dwelling house), 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating) and 306 (abetment of suicide).
Sushant and Rhea were in a relationship before the actor’s death. Sushant’s father has levelled various allegations against Rhea, including taking money from his son and also threatening him to disclose his medical reports to the media. Sushant’s family has also accused her of keeping him away from his family.
Sushant’s cousin and former BJP MLA from Bihar’s Chhatapur, Neeraj Kumar Singh said the FIR has been filed after the family somehow overcame the shock of the untimely and sudden demise of the young actor, and after various things came to their knowledge.
Ankita Lokhande breaks silence on Sushant’s death
Sushant’s ex-girlfriend, Ankita Lokhande, has broken her silence on his death, more than a month after he was found dead in his Bandra apartment. Ankita said in an interview that Sushant could not have been ‘depressed’.
“Sushant was not the guy who could commit suicide. We have seen worse situations when we were together. He was a happy-go-lucky guy,” she said. Ankita and Sushant met on the sets of their television show Pavitra Rishta, and were in a relationship for six years until 2016.
She continued, “How much ever I know him, he wasn’t a depressed guy. I have not seen a person like Sushant, a guy who used to write his own dreams, he had a diary… He had his 5-year plan — what he wants to do, how he will look, etc. And exactly after 5 years, he had fulfilled them. And when things like ‘depression’ are used after his name… it is heartbreaking. He might be upset, anxious, yes, but depression is a big word. Calling someone ‘bipolar’ is a big thing.”
She added, “The Sushant that I know — he came from a small town. He established himself on his own. He has taught me so many things, he taught me acting. Kisi ko pata bhi hai Sushant kaun aur kya tha? Everyone is writing their own portrayal of how ‘depressed’ he was, it hurts reading all of this.”
Ankita on Thursday was questioned by the Bihar Police at her Mumbai residence.
Ankita continued, “He found happiness in small things. He wanted to do farming, I know this for sure… he told me agar kuch nai hua to main apni short film bana lunga. He was not a depressed guy, not at all. I don’t know what the situation was… but I will keep repeating this. I don’t want people to remember him as a depressed guy, he was a hero. He was an inspiration.”
