Sonam’s mehendi lehenga took 18 months to be made

Mumbai: Sonam Kapoor is all set to tie knot with her long-time boyfriend Anand Ahuja today. Sonam and Anand’s pre-wedding festivities kicked off with a mehendi ceremony on Sunday, and then a sangeet at the Sunteck Signature Island, in Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex, yesterday.

The actress is truly a fashionista and her unique ensembles are proof of it. Sonam is setting new trends with her pre-wedding outfit. Just look at the ivory-golden lehenga she wore at her sangeet-mehandi ceremony! Teaming up the attire with kundan and pearl jewellery, long braid ornated with gajra, flawless makeup and slightly smokey eyes, Sonam is indeed looking beyond beautiful in this Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla ensemble. According to sources, this designer wear took over 18 months to come to life.

The designers who are known for their chikankari, metallic lattice and signature mirror work on Indian ethnic wear, always make a point to stand out in the crowd. Her lehenga is covered with intricate chikankari details, further embellished with accents of light gold. Her gold choli is what highlights her complete look. The designers said, that every panel of the lehenga skirt has a unique set of motifs done in intricate chikankari.

Moreover, forty various stitch techniques were used for this. Each panel is highlighted in silver zardozi, zari, gold, tiny sequins, Swarovski crystals and pearls. The actress is wearing mom Sunita Kapoor’s gold choker necklace in pearl and Kundan jewellery. Celebs like Jacqueline Fernandez, Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor, Rekha, Rani Mukerji, Kapoor family, Swara Bhaskar and others are gracing the ceremony and everyone is looking stunning.

However, family and close friends attended the merry bash including Abhishek Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan, Shweta Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan along with Taimur Ali Khan, Karan Johar, Swara Bhaskar and Jacqueline Fernandez have already arrived at the venue to bless Sonam on her D-day.
