SRK’s fan boy moment with Christopher Nolan

Mumbai: Superstar Shah Rukh Khan was happy to meet acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan on Saturday here. He says it was very inspiring to hear him talk about the virtues of celluloid.

Nolan is regarded as one of the most influential filmmakers of the 21st century courtesy films like Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, Inception, Interstellar and Dunkirk. Nolan is in India to draw attention to the importance of celluloid in the digital age.

Indian filmmaker and archivist Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, founder of the Film Heritage Foundation (FHF), is hosting Nolan at a three-day event ‘Reframing the Future of Film’ here from 30 March to 1 April. Celebrated visual artist Tacita Dean is also part of it.

The Hollywood director, who had come to India to shoot “The Dark Knight Rises” in Jodhpur back in 2011, is expected to fly out on 2 April.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan had his fanboy moment as the actor met renowned filmmaker Christopher Nolan today.

The 52-year-old star took to Twitter to share his experience about meeting the ace director.

“My Fanboy moment. Inspiring to hear Mr.Nolan and Ms Tacita Dean talk of the virtues of celluloid as an artistes medium. Thanks, @shividungarpur for having me over” SRK tweeted alongside his picture with Nolan.

Earlier, South superstar Kamal Haasan had shared a photograph with the Dunkirk director. The actor had said he was surprised to know that Nolan had seen his film Papnasam.

During his trip, Nolan will also be present for the screenings of two of his recent films Oscar-nominated Dunkirk and Interstellar.

Khan has a significant following in Asia and the Indian diaspora worldwide. In terms of audience size and income, he has been described as one of the most successful film stars in the world.

Khan made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Deewana. Early in his career, Khan was recognised for portraying villainous roles in the films DarrBaazigar and Anjaam.

As of 2015, Khan is co-chairman of the motion picture production company Red Chillies Entertainment and its subsidiaries and is the co-owner of the Indian Premier League cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders.

Khan returned to the romantic genre with the role of a tourist guide who falls in love with a traveller in Imtiaz Ali’s Jab Harry Met Sejal. Khan’s pairing with Sharma, 22 years his junior, writing that Khan had performed similar gestures of love decades ago to actors his own age.The film proved to be a box office flop. Khan will next reunite with Sharma and Katrina Kaif in Aanand L Rai’s comedy-drama Zero which is set to be released on 21 December 2018.
