Seventeen days after a Muslim man kidnapped a Hindu girl studying in Class 8 from a village of District Sambhal, the victim's family deserted their home and hearth, fed up by police inaction amid constant threats from the perpetrator, before some officers intervened, requesting the family to return home with the assurance that the suspect would be arrested in three days. Tension prevails in the village due to the communal nature of the crime.
Police have been deployed in the area to avert strife.
On 30 August, a Muslim man Mursalin from the same village seduced the Hindu girl in Village Chandausi Kotwali and took her away with him. Her parents lodged a case under Sections 363, 366, 504, and 506 of IPC in Kotwali. A second charge was written against four other suspects under the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.
