Even as a new generation of conscious Hindus in India and abroad are struggling to re-orient a large section of the community's population that they accuse of being "deracinated", 91% of Indonesian and Malaysian Muslims have responded to a survey saying that a strong relationship with Allah (God) is the most important thing in life. The survey titled "the New Muslim Consumer" was conducted by SONAR for Wunderman Thompson Intelligence and VMLY&R in May.
This 91% section of Muslims said health was as important but their relationship with Allah was more important than that with parents.
The survey report, based on interviews with 1,000 consumers in Indonesia and Malaysia, found further that one in three Indonesian and Malaysian Muslims thinks he or she is more religious than his or her parents when the mother and father were their age. The...
