In the wake of many a Shaheen Bagh mushrooming in the country, with the Centre going unbelievably soft on provocative, hateful outbursts of politicians and extremist Muslims, things appear to be moving in a very dangerously disturbing direction. The other day, AIMIM leader Waris Pathan, the right-hand man of party supremo Assaduddin Owaisi, criminally challenged the consciousness of the country’s Hindus, stating that “15 crore Muslims will outweigh the 100 crore Hindus”. He incited Muslims at an anti-CAA rally in Gulbarga, Karnataka, in the presence of Owaisi, saying that time has come for the Muslims of the country to unite and “achieve freedom”. What freedom he was campaigning for is, however, difficult to understand.
If it comes to honestly identifying the community-wise application of “freedom” in India, Muslims appear to be front-runners in enjoying that full-bloom freedom which is available to people in this country. They take advantage of every situation, being the solid vote bank of various parties, with the sole exception of BJP. Muslims may be “15 crore” — and the figure is grossly underquoted, they may be 30 crores today — they remain in great demand of all political parties and help enlarge their vote banks and raise their power, influence quotients. That explains why the 100 crore Hindus remain so incredibly divided and allow every possible handle to jihadi sections of Muslims to threaten Hindus’ mass murder, as and when they like.
On Friday, a young woman, named Amulya, who raised ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans at a rally in Bengaluru against the CAA in the presence of Asaduddin, has been charged with sedition, with a judicial magistrate denying her bail. The woman asked people to shout with her “Pakistan Zindabad” after the organisers of the event, under the “Save Constitution” banner, invited her to address the gathering soon after Owaisi came on the stage. I wish to ask, “What is happening in India? And who is responsible for such deliveries of nonsense, divisiveness and subterfuge?
Muslims and ‘martial race’ delusion
Assaduddin Owaisi himself remains excessively active with his explosively communal outbursts, but at least he knows where to stop. But his brother Akbaruddin Owaisi, MLA, never had shame to call Hindus names and frequently threatens their massacre. In 2013, he had said: “We (Muslims) are 25 crore and they are 100 crore. Remove police for 15 minutes, we will finish off one billion Hindus”.
In another speech, Akbaruddin had said, “Hindus cannot face the Muslims and whenever the Muslims start dominating the Hindus, the “impotent police” intervenes. He used words qātil (murderer), darindā (monster), beimān (dishonest), dhokebāz (cheat), and chor (thief) for former Prime Minister of India PV Narasimha Rao and said that if Rao had not died, he would have killed Rao with his own hands.
Owaisi Jr also said, RSS, VHP and BJP were poisonous snakes, and to “crush their heads, a stick is enough.” Owaisi made derogatory comments against Lord Rama and his mother Kaushalya, saying “Where all did Ram’s mother go wandering and where did she give birth to him.” He had indulged in much more evil-speaking against Hindus, but the elder Owaisi never tried to take him to task for his hateful outbursts. I wonder why such enemies of the nation, who publicly sow seeds of animus and divisiveness in society, are not sent to jail for sedition.
Muslims exploit vote politics, Hindu caste system
And why does all that happen? How and why does everyone take liberty with the Hindus and their peace-loving ethos? Why are Hindus considered kafirs by Muslims and heathens and pagans by Christians? Why do they sit in judgment on the culture and practices of Hindus? Why do Muslims and Christian missionaries denigrate Hindu practices? Who authorised Christian evangelists to disparage Hindu gods and abuse Hindu rituals as “barbaric”? Such attitudes have caused tensions between religious communities.
The Indian caste system is seen by other religious communities as a uniquely Hindu issue, rather than a cultural one. The caste-based segregation of the Hindu community has always come to the advantage of the adherents of other religions, such as Islam and Christianity. Western scholars, no doubt, distorted Hindu religion and perpetuated negative stereotypes, which began in the country with Macaulayism. Such stereotypes were effectively utilised during the British Raj to hasten sectarian divisions in Indian society, all part of the British divide-and-rule strategy.
After the alien power left the country, these divisions became more caustic and invasive. Politicians of Independent India merrily used these divisions to achieve influence and power. If Muslims today are so aggressive, raring to dominate India, dreaming its early Islamization, the vertical divisions within the Hindu community are solely responsible for the belligerence.
But let me be clear and honest here that in times to come, Muslims and Christians will see the Hindus uniting as never before. The commoners among them have already begun regrouping into a solid mass. As such, the Muslims and Christians will do well to start living peacefully with Hindus. Frankly, extremists, jihadis like Akbaruddins, Waris Pathans and many others, have no future in India. In the course of time, moderates within the Muslim community will themselves take care of such fearmongers.
Apparent conspiracy to Islamise India
And, how real is the talk of barbarity, massacre and Muslim domination in this Hindu-majority India? On the face of it, all that looks a hollow threat. Do Muslims really have nerves dominate Hindus? These are some of the intriguing questions that Hindus ironically look dismissing somewhat amusingly, mainly because they want to live peacefully with Muslims and other minorities, despite the tonnes of provocations that come arousing Hindu passions.
But global history shows how rapidly Islam has spread in the world over the decades. And why are the Muslims so hell-bent on giving citizenship to all Muslim migrants from Islamic countries? Is not it a route to raise their numbers astronomically, relatively in a shorter time?
They invoke barbarity of mass murderers
Author-Journalist Tarek Fatah, founder of the Muslim Canadian Congress, who is opposed to sharia law and advocates “progressive form of Islam”, sees a big conspiracy in the current agitation against CAA, NRC and NPR. He questions in a tweet why the Mullahs continuously threaten “a repeat of the 1947 bloodbath in India’s Partition, if PM Narendra Modi refuses to revoke the Citizenship Amendment Act.” He asks: “Why does each one of these jihadis proudly invoke the barbarity of mass murderers like Taimur, Ghazni, Babur and Aurangzeb?” He faces numerous death warrants from Mullah and Maulvis for his views on Islam, but he doesn’t seem to take them seriously.
Fateh claims that”most of the Islamic radicalism that you see today stems from the empowering of Saudi-based Jihad groups that were funded and backed by the US and the CIA throughout the Afghan war against the Soviet Union.” He insists that Islam needs to turn “progressive”. Islam has been viewed as a form of Arab imperialism and has received criticism from Indian and African leaders for what they perceive as the destruction of indigenous cultures. Islam’s recognition of slavery as an institution, which led to Muslim traders exporting as many as 17 million slaves to the coast of the Indian Ocean, the Middle East, and North Africa, faced severe criticism.
Non-Muslim societies feel threatened
In the wake of the New Zealand mosque shootings in which 49 people were killed, Australian Senator Fraser Anning blamed the Muslim community for being “perpetrators” of violence all over the world and called Islam the “religious equivalent of fascism”. He said the attacks highlighted the “growing fear over an increasing Muslim presence” in Australia and New Zealand. Similarly, people in the UK and European countries think that Islam is inherently incompatible with multicultural democracy and poses a long-term threat to their societies.
And, why not? A very few Muslim entities are democratic and the reasons for this lies in the inherently undemocratic character of Islam. In view of the steady Islamic hatred of the West and also of modernity, how can Muslims be good citizens of Western democracies? Facts can’t be denied. Some 25 million Muslims live in the 28 member-states of the European Union. Most of them came seeking work and admittedly they worked in “difficult, dirty and dangerous” sectors. However, in the eighties, they were perceived not as immigrants from countries like Morocco, Pakistan or Turkey, but as “Muslims”, eventually threatening the social fabric of the European societies.
Rogue Pakistan adding fuel to fire
The terrorist attacks and the radicalisation of native Muslim Europeans created newer difficulties, giving rise to anti-Muslim sentiment in Europe. Now, the question is: Will these immigrants be able to integrate themselves into the European societies? Doesn’t this question appear to be a little outlandish? Don’t we face the same problem India? Muslims have lived in the country for centuries, but in the wake of radicalization of more and more Muslims, especially in the post-Partition era, they are becoming a threat to India’s Hindu population. Many may not agree with this view, but the facts suggest it to be true.
The major problem is neighbouring Pakistan that has its Muslim lobbies entrenched in India. Not only that, these lobbies have found stable bases in various political parties on the strength of their vote banks. Thus, Hindus conveniently fall under their control, mostly at the cost of national interests. If the INC and communists and various pseudo-secularists support pro-Pakistan leaders like Farooq Abdullahs, Mehbooba Muftis and Owaisis etc, how can Muslims, with natural sympathies for the rogue state, can think of being nationalists?
