Kangana slams Swara Bhasker’s defence of Karan Johar on nepotism

Kangana called out Swara for backing Karan and mentioned that when Kangana graced the show, Karan was a paid host and she was the superstar

Kangana Ranaut’s team lashed out at Swara Bhasker, accusing her of fawning over Karan Johar. Their tweet was in response of Swara defending Karan in the nepotism debate, saying that he was gracious enough to respond to Kangana’s comments on Koffee With Karan and did not get them removed from the final cut of the episode.

Taking to Twitter, Kangana’s team called out Swara for backing Karan and mentioned that when Kangana graced the show, Karan was a paid host and she was the superstar. Manikarnika star’s team claimed that it is upto the channel to remove content from the show and not Karan. Not just this, Kangana’s team also said that the Manikarnika star’s voice does not need Karan’s platform to reach her fans. While Swara’s tweet faced flak from fans over supporting Karan in the nepotism row, Kangana’s team called her out for the same too.

“Swara while doing chaploosi pls don’t forget Kangana graced the show after many requests, she was the superstar and KJO was the paid host it is not for him to remove anything if channel wants it, and her voice needs no KJO to reach people,” Kangana’s team wrote on Twitter.

A few days ago, Swara defended Karan in the nepotism row and tweeted, “Let’s take a moment & acknowledge that @karanjohar took this question on the chin, & answered in a candid & honest manner not taking unwarranted personal offense. Let’s also acknowledge that he didn’t have the infamous #nepotism comment removed from his chat show which he cud’ve.”

Swara had earlier shared a video in which she asked Karan about working with star kids, much before Kangana’s now-famous Koffee With Karan episode. She wrote, “Oooooh! Look who started the fire !!!”

In the video, which appears to be filmed soon after the release of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil in 2017, Swara asked Karan about launching star kids and said that the practice seems almost ‘feudalistic’ to her.

The debate around nepotism gained fresh momentum after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death by suicide. It has been alleged that he was shunned by the ‘Bollywood privilege club’ as he was an outsider, and denied opportunities.

Swara had defended Karan and Alia Bhatt, tweeting that holding them responsible for the tragedy was the ‘height of idiocy and hypocrisy’. “Parts of India Twitter blaming #KaranJohar and #AliaBhatt for the tragic suicide of Sushant – for some silly game played on a frivolous and pointless chat show is both the height of idiocy and hypocrisy!,” she wrote, adding that the late actor did not leave behind any suicide note.

No more Koffee with Karan Johar?

f sources in the know are to believed Karan Johar’s controversial celebrity talk show Koffee With Karan has come to an inglorious end.

The channel Star World which was hosting the show would no longer be existent in India. Koffee With Karan also goes. Somewhat like throwing the the bathwater with the baby.

Says a source close to the development, “Plans to shut down Star World were afoot for some time now. And Star had decided to move Karan Johar’s chat show to another channel owned by the group. But now with all the unsavoury controversy surrounding the chat show after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, Star has decided to close it down.”

This means, no more carping with Karan Johar? Thus ends the bitching and backbiting on Koffee With Karan which had gotten several stars including Deepika Padukone, Sonam Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, not to mention Hardik Pandya, into deep trouble, and about which Ranbir Kapoor has famously commented, “I told him I don’t want to come. Me and Anushka actually going to protest and get the entire film industry together to stop this because it’s not fair. He’s making money out of us. We come and we get screwed through the air. It’s not right.”

The below-the-belt comments on Koffee With Karan about actors who were not the host’s personal friends had gone beyond all levels with decency. In one episode Alia Bhatt was heard asking, ‘Sushant Singh Rajput, who?”

A superstar once told me he had been ‘forced’ to come on the show by his wife and the questions and answers were all doctored from beforehand to create controversies.
