In the last 24 hours, bodies of two BJP workers have been found hanging from the tree in West Bengal. On Wednesday, in Village Kachuri of District East Medinipur, the body of BJP worker Purnacharan Das was found hanging from a tree. A day before, the body of BJP booth secretary Gautam Patra was found hanging from a tree in Mathurapur of District South 24 Parganas.
The relatives of both the victims and the state unit of the BJP have accused the Trinamool Congress (TMC) of murder.
The TMC has denied the allegations. Recently, BJP MLA Debendra Nath Rai’s body from Hemtabad in Uttar Dinajpur district of Bengal had been found hanging. The BJP had called it a political murder by the TMC while the party ruling in the state had typically brushed it aside as a result of some personal animus of the victim against his killers.
The BJP delegation today met with President Ram Nath Kovind and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for the murder of the MLA and demanded a CBI inquiry. The police called it a case of suicide while the state government ordered a CID investigation into the incident, which is under investigation.
